President (Elected Position)

Currently Amy Mahrer

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall objectives and strategies of PTA
  • Act as liaison between parents and principal/staff
  • Recruit all PTA Committee Chairs
  • Create agenda and facilitate five (5) PTA meetings
  • Create agenda and facilitate monthly PTA board meetings
  • Create school calendar and PTA budget with Principal and Treasurer
  • Attend (or designate a representative to attend) PTA Council meetings, and other greater PTA events

 

Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week

 

Busiest Times of Year: At the beginning of the year and during large scale events, particularly fall and spring fundraisers.

  


 

VP Membership (Officer Position)

Currently Betsy Scogin

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive yearlong membership campaign to grow membership so that it represents the entire Tadlock community
  • Ensure membership growth and retention is a prioritized goal of the PTA
  • Collect and reconcile membership dues with financial officers
  • Provide regular membership reports at meetings

 

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week

 

Busiest Times of Year: Fall

 


 

VP Programs (Officer Position)

Currently Valerie Martin

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all non-fundraising community PTA events
  • Collaborate with VP Fundraising
  • Partners with the chairperson of chairing each particular event to ensure the overall success; including but not limited to ensuring the proper space is reserved, funds are set up as appropriate, etc.
  • Research program providers and/or ideas aligned with identified needs and goals
  • Provide year-round programming to establish the PTA's focus on family engagement, not only fundraising
  • Evaluate existing programs and determine relevancy and future plans
  • Network with PTA Programs Leaders in your community to collaborate on common goals

 

Time Commitment: On-going

 

Busiest Times of Year: Every large scale event hosted by the PTA  

 


 

VP Ways and Means (Officer Position)

Currently Anne Taylor

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the fall Fund Drive
  • Design all marketing material
  • Manage corporate matching program
  • Manage associated events (classroom competition).
  • Track donations
  • Manage disbursement of incentives
  • Oversee and market several ongoing fundraisers
  • Recruit and support committee chairs for key fundraising events
  • Continue to monitor success of fundraisers and to recommend changes to fundraising objectives and strategies

 

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week - more time during fundraisers

 

Busiest Times of Year: Fall Boosterthon and Spring Sock Hop

 


 

Secretary  (Officer Position)

Currently April Walker

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the official legal record of the association in a bound book; including but not limited to an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and the executive board
  • With the president, sign authorizations for payment for expenditure of funds following approval by the association or executive board in accordance with the bylaws
  • Notifies board members, as requested by the president, of all called meetings
  • Assist the president in determining a quorum at association and board meetings
  • Present minutes from the previous meeting, association or board
  • Present a report of board meetings to the association membership as needed.
  • Prepares a draft of the minutes of each meeting within two to five days of the meeting.
  • Act as the corresponding secretary, reading communications at meetings and writing thank you notes, etc.
  • Prepare a list of all unfinished business for the use of the president

 

Time Commitment: 30 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Following each PTA Meeting and PTA Board Meeting

 


 

Treasurer (Officer Position)

 Currently Amanda Keelen

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the president to draft the PTA budget
  • Oversee ongoing PTA finances and ensure adherence to approved PTA budget
  • Keep an accurate and detailed account of all monies received and disbursed
  • Ensure all cash funds are counted by multiple individuals and documented
  • Keep on permanent file the PTA Employer Identification Number (EIN), as assigned by the IRS, and the PTA sales tax permit, as assigned by the Texas Comptroller
  • Present a financial report of all accounts at all Association and board meetings
  • Make timely deposits to the PTA bank account
  • Make disbursements in accordance with the budget, as adopted by the association membership, and verify each transaction is accompanied by a Check Request and necessary documentation
  • File the appropriate Form 990 within 60 days of the end of the fiscal year
  • File sales tax reports to Texas Comptroller as required (annually, quarterly or monthly)
  • Maintain a list of assets owned by the PTA
  • Submit all required items to the Financial Reconciliation Committee in a timely manner
  • Ensure PTA meets all requirements of the Standards of Continuing Affiliation

 

Time Commitment: 100 hours per year, including attending PTA meetings

 

Busiest Times of Year: Beginning of the school year as well as some time over the summer to prepare for the start of school.

 


 

Aide to the President

Currently Kelly Tarricone

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary aide to the president
  • Help ensure smooth transitions for incoming officers and committee chairs
  • Contact president for assistance with concerns, questions or procedural advice
  • Attend PTA sponsored workshops or trainings
  • Become familiar with the duties of each chairman
  • Attend meetings as requested by the president
  • Attend council, district, and state PTA meetings as appropriate
  • Organize signage for school events when needed

 

Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per month

 

Busiest Times of Year: Beginning of the year and during large scale events

 


 

Arts & Education

Currently Jessie Hagan

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the Reflections program and any other education related programs directed by PTA local council and state

 

Time Commitment: 8 -15 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Ongoing

 


  

Bookfair Chair

Currently Michelle Flannigan

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with vendor to set up bookfair
  • Manage inventory and sales during bookfair
  • Work with Tadlock staff and PTA committee to allocate bookfair proceeds

 

Busiest Times of Year: During Bookfair

 

Time Commitment: 80 hours per year

 


 

Communications 

Currently Heather Weber

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly newsletter (design, compile and distribute hard copies)
  • PTA sponsored bulletin Boards

 

Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per week

Council Delegate

Currently Ashley Smith

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attends monthly council meetings and reports back to the PTA Board regarding local and state wide legislation and events
  • Writes Grants upon request of the President

 

Time Commitment: 8 -15 hours per year

Directory Chair

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and distribute the Student Directory
  • Partners with the Ways and Means Silent Auction committee to organize and Print Auction directory

Time Commitment: 8 -15 hours per year

 

 


Historian (Officer Position)

Currently Chriszelda Sabedra

 

Responsibilities:

  • Keep records of programs and events at Tadlock
  • Take photos all year at events

 

Busiest Times of Year: Directly associated with the events

 

Time Commitment: 8-15 hours per year

 

 


 

Hospitality Chair

Currently Lesley Greer

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize refreshments and other hospitality needs for PTA events
  • Organizes teacher luncheons
  • Organizes staff appreciation events

 

Time Commitment: 20 hours per year

Parliamentarian (Officer Position)

Currently Katie Casanova

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Parliamentarian Procedure is upheld during all meetings
  • Updates and maintains all local standing rules and bylaws

Room Parent Chair

Responsibilities:

  • Organize all school parites
  • Facilitate communications between PTA and room parents

Social Media Chair

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the PTA’s social profile on FaceBook
  • Update and Maintain the PTA Website

 

Time Commitment: 3 hours week

Spirit Wear Chair

Currently Tara Moore

 

Responsibilities:

Work with Vendor to procure Spirit Wear Items

Organize and distribute Spirit Wear

Keep records of all spirit wear sales and distribution

 

Time Commitment: 30 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Fall

 

 


 

Vendor Programs Chair

 Currently Jennifer Burke

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all Spirit Night Vendors and works with associated teachers on funding for classes
  • Collects, counts and distributes prizes for Box Top collection
  • Advertises all other vendors with parents in order to generate more participation

 

Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per month

 

Busiest Times of Year: Busiest at the beginning of the year and during large scale events

 

 


 

 

Volunteer Chair

Currently Kara Good

 

Responsibilities:

  • Publishes volunteer opportunities and needs
  • Gathers supplies for events as needed
  • Coordinates volunteers for all events
  • Coordinates all Sip N Snip activities

 

Time Commitment: 8-15 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Ongoing

 

 


 

Watch D.O.G.S. Chair

Currently Daniel Burke

 

Responsibilities:

  • Gather all Watch D.O.G.S. related needs and supplies (T-shirts, certificates, etc)
  • Coordinate pizza sign up party and Donuts with D.O.G.S.
  • Generate interest in the program
  • Attend PTA meetings to give reports of D.O.G.S. Activity

 

Time Commitment: 8-15 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Fall

 

 


 

Ways and Means Chair

Currently Kelly Prucha

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary aide to the Ways and Means VP

 

Time Commitment: 40 hours per year

 

Busiest Times of Year: Busiest during Boosterthon and Sock Hop

 

 


 

 

 

 

Our PTA board is made up of a diverse group of individuals that work together and combine various talents and skill sets to make Tadlock the most amazing school.

Board Candidate Qualifications

 

 

  • Knowledgeable about and adheres to the Vision, Mission, Purposes and basic policies of PTA.
  • Willing to attend continuing training for PTA.
  • Prior experience in either PTA or other organizational work.
  • Is ethical and has a sense of justice and fairness.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm for PTA.
  • Willing to make PTA a high priority in his or her schedule.
